Nosif Prasla

The search

Nosif Prasla works as a Salesforce administrator for a higher education company. His role allows him to work from anywhere, so two years ago, he began travelling, drawn to the chance to experience life more fully than just living in Texas, where he is from.

Nosif didn’t drink much growing up, but when he started in his mid-20s, he jumped in quickly. Drinking became his go-to in social settings. On the road, it was almost automatic. Alcohol was part of every gathering, every evening, every chance to loosen up. For a while, it made him feel like he was fitting in, but soon he started wondering what these trips would feel like if he cancelled the extracurricular activities.

“I was someone who started drinking a little bit later in my life, and once I started, I was constantly doing it in every social activity.”

Nosif and Ryan on a sober trip

The transformation

In the Andes, Nosif woke up early. Not because he had to, but because it would have been a crying shame to miss those sunrises! His mind was clear. His body responded. He found himself laughing more, sharing more, and taking in the details he might’ve missed had he been in an altered state of mind.

“Doing the Machu Picchu trip with Capsule was one of the best decisions I’ve made. “It was seven days of hiking, sharing stories, and pushing myself in the right ways. I wasn’t relying on anything to make it better. And that made all the difference.”

The shift

Serendipity struck as Nosif met Ryan in Bali, and something about that chance encounter made him think he would like to try a sober trip too. When he saw the Capsule Adventures trek to Machu Picchu in 2024,  he didn’t hesitate. With seven days of altitude, movement, conversation, and culture, the itinerary was pretty impressive. However, what enticed him the most was the fact that there was no pressure to perform and that all tour members would be on the same wavelength.

“Ryan is so authentic. His story is incredible, and his passion for giving people the time of their lives is genuine. If sober travel is something you’ve thought about, Capsule Adventures needs to be on your radar.”

Vivid memories with Capsule Adventures

Nosif’s trek to Machu Picchu was life-affirming. He now understands what the payoff is when substances are not involved and does not allow himself to get peer pressured into activities that might ruin the next day. While he identifies as sober-curious and still has a drink now and then, his relationship with alcohol doesn’t affect how he wants to live his life.

We are looking forward to welcoming Nosif back in 2025 for another sober adventure!
